Synopsis :

In 1920 the US bans alcohol consumption, however Canada continues to produce and consume it. An extraordinary contraband network (bootleggers) is established between the two countries. Large quantities of alcohol were smuggled in from Canada, overland and via the Great Lakes, and from the French islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Through these islands, the French transported European alcohol.

Bootleggers were the middlemen that bought off or bribed officers of the law in order to procure and distribute liquor to the public.

Al Capone, one of the most infamous bootleggers of them all, built his criminal empire largely on profits from illegal alcohol.

The documentary recounts this notorious part of North American history with photos from the era and strong dramatization of actual chronicles of two well-known bootleggers at the time: Maxime Albert and Al Capone.
